Connect Redis to Claude

Planned

Check keys, queues and the state of your cache by asking Claude – without redis-cli and without an open port.

Your address for Claudehttps://redis-acme.xenmcp.com/mcp

Register interest

Redis often holds the state of an application: sessions, queues, intermediate results. When debugging, it helps to see quickly what is in there. XenMCP runs Redis’ official MCP server for this and connects it to Claude.

The official server only speaks stdio. XenMCP turns it into a stable address with OAuth, without you changing anything on the server.

What you can ask Claude

  • How many jobs are in the emails queue right now?
  • Show me all keys starting with session: and when they expire.
  • What is in the hash user:1042?
  • How much memory is Redis using, and how many clients are connected?

Typical tools

get / hgetall / json_get
Read values, hashes and JSON documents
scan_keys / scan_all_keys
Find keys by pattern (with SCAN, without blocking the server)
type
Show the type of a key
info / dbsize / client_list
Server state, number of keys, connected clients
set / hset / delete / expire
Write and delete values (only when you allow it, blocked by default)

What you need to connect

  • The address of your Redis server (redis:// or rediss:// with TLS)
  • A dedicated ACL user, ideally read-only (e.g. +@read -@write -@dangerous)
  • XenMCP’s fixed IP address allowed in your firewall

Security

  • Dangerous commands such as FLUSHALL, CONFIG or KEYS on large databases are blocked: through a dedicated ACL user without @dangerous and through the choice of tools.
  • Read-only by default. The server itself has no read-only mode, so we set the limit with Redis ACLs – it applies regardless of the AI.
  • Redis does not need to be open to the internet: allow only XenMCP’s fixed IP, ideally with TLS.
  • Credentials encrypted (AES-256-GCM), never logged; the call log keeps only tool, status and duration.

Good to know

It is based on Redis’ official open-source server (MIT). It only supports stdio so far; XenMCP takes care of the way to the internet.

Built on

We use the open server Redis MCP Server (MIT), build the image ourselves from a pinned version and review the tool descriptions before release.

Frequently asked questions

Can Claude flush my cache?

No. FLUSHALL and other dangerous commands are blocked, and by default the user may only read.

Does this put load on my Redis server?

Keys are searched with SCAN, not KEYS. That does not block the server.

When will Redis be available?

Redis is planned. Join the waitlist – demand there decides the order.
